Acquired by Henry Davidson in 1762, the castle passed out of Davidson ownership in the early 20th century, but remains an important landmark for clan traditions. According to the Will of William Davison, Armagh, Ireland (A record in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland entitled T 748 page 90), the LDS, The Compendium of American Genealogies (Vol 4 pg 320), and Robert S. Hands book, William had a brother John, two sons, George (the eldest) and John, and five daughters, Anne who was married at the time of his death to John McCollum, Elizabeth, Helen, Judith and Margaret who were both under twenty-one. The last of the direct line of Davidsons at Tulloch was a Duncan Davidson, who died in 1917. Tulloch Castle is located near Dingwall, Scotland. Around 1725 the top two storeys of the tower were removed to give the castle its current look. Although the earliest parts of the castle date from the 13th century, each of five successive family owners - Preston, Meldrum, Seton, Gordon and Leith - contributed a new tower.

The Davidsons in Aberdeen can be traced back to the late 14th century when Robert Davidson was Provost of the city - he was killed at the Battle of Harlaw> in 1411. Remains of 16th century tower house. The castle is now privately owned with a limited number of tours operated during summer months. The Davidsons are said to have formed a part of the Clan Chattan force which fought in the famous "Battle of the Clans"> at Perth in 1396.
